Good Morning.

Fog again over the meadow. Yesterday warmed up a little, but it is definitely colder again this morning. The tomato plants are still packing up and moving inside every night.
This is the weirdest weather I've seen here in years.

Yesterday, Toaka got her "snack". She got tired of waiting for me to give her some chicken or some other scrumcious tid bit. So...she caught a Blue Jay fledgling. She came and got me and showed me what she had found. We put the little guy back into his nest. He was like most kids...he didn't want to stay. He was rebellious. He left the nest again. Toaka said..."Yes! Now you are mine!" "I am a bird dog, you are a bird" I felt bad for the little guy. She didn't really want to eat it, she just wanted to play. Unfortunately, the Jay did not survive the ordeal. Toaka felt bad, she had lost her playmate.

Stay Safe.

Ps. Toaka says..."Okay, Okay, Okay...I didn't eat the little bird, so give me a treat for being sooo friendly to him."

Not much going on today. Stay Safe.

Good Morning.

American Idol - David Cook Wins!! America cast over 95 million votes. He won by a measly 12 million.

Clouds. Wind. More Clouds. More Wind. I can't believe this weather. Every time I buy tomato plants....the weather gods say, Nay Nay...you don't live in tomato country. I tried to fool the gods by bringing the plants into the house. The plants survived the night, but the gods are like tomato vultures lurking outside...waiting patiently. I am still thinking positive. I have basil again this year as well. It seems my basil always gets nipped by frost. I will attempt to fool the gods by leaving the plants in the window (inside). It is a waiting game. A stand off. Who will give in? Eventually I will decide to plant the basil in my patio planter. Hopefully the gods will have given up on winter and allow my plants the warmth they need. Tick Tock Tick Tock ( jeopardy theme playing in my head)....

Stay Safe.

Good Morning.

Dancing with the stars - Kristi Yamaguchi (the skater) won the mirror ball trophy.
American Idol - Tonight we find out who will win this season.

This morning I watched the horses begin their morning graze. They all came out of the barn and walked into the meadow. All three started eating grass, just as they do every morning. The morning sun is warming them. They walk slow...soaking in the rays. This morning, Cinder walked...maybe 150 yards. The sun was too much. He was not going to ruin this sun filled soak by exerting energy. He found a nice spot, lied down, and went to sleep. Horses are herd animals and don't like to sleep alone. Teddy and Hilton continued their morning graze and walked away from cinder. So...Cinder stood up from his wonderful sun filled bed and walked a little farther. He was, once again, closer to his pals. He found another spot, lied down again, and went to sleep....again. You could tell he was annoyed with teddy and Hilton. Cinder did not want to graze. He's got all day to do sort of stuff. This morning sun is only here...well...in the morning. "Sleep boys". Teddy and Hilton continue to graze. They can't stop now. Teddy just knows "those geese are going to come flying in any minute". "They will land here in the meadow....and graze. Graze on our grass". "So....march on...keep grazing...before the geese get it". "Hurry, eat.....I think I hear them".

Good morning.

We are home. It was a long drive yesterday. Very heavy traffic at times. It seems every time we travel through Sacramento, it takes longer and longer to get through. We can't really go around it without adding more time to the trip. It is going to be really bad here pretty soon. I-5 is being shut down completely for repairs. Hwy 99 will be our only choice. Everybody else will be using Hwy 99 as well. I am going to look for another way around Sac.

It is nice to be home. Thank You SoCal IMT 1. As always, it was a pleasure working with you.

Good morning.

Well...the temps were kicked on yesterday. I lost count of the IA fires down here. None got to any size, but the local folks were busy. It is supposed to be hot again today. The east wind is already blowing a bit. Who knows...we may be home around December or so.

Good morning. Not a lot going on here. A few sick people, not because of the fire....they're just sick. The fire is moving slow. It supposed to be over 100 degrees in the next day or so. That should bring some more fires.

Camp is set up in a county park, right next to a lake. The lake keeps it cooler, but it also produces more bugs. Mosquito repellent is being used a lot. The cotton like stuff from the cottonwood trees is blowing in the breeze.

Of course...we have located a StarBucks close by. Afternoon iced mochas are a must.

Have a great day.

Good Morning.

Who's going to make the final of Dancing with the Stars? Tonight someone gets voted off. American Idol is down to the final three. CSI Miami is heating up. All season long, they have shown a picture of what looks like Heratio Kane's sunglasses, with a bullet hole in them. Now they are showing scenes from next week, and it looks like Heratio laying on the ground after a big shoot out. Tune in next week for the season finally. See which CSI is leaving the show.

Triple digits in the Valley this week. That should get fire season off to a good start.

Good morning. Spring is here for sure now. The Valley is supposed to reach 100 this week. The flies are out in full force. Yesterday I mowed the grass and was shocked at how many flies I found. Horse poop up next to the fence was covered with the little critters. Every time I would go by with the mower, they would swarm into the wind. Thousands of them. I watched the horses graze for a while. Their tails were constantly swatting at flies. In the winter their tails stay still....no flies. I wondered if their tails ever get tired. I know my tail would be dragging if I had to swing it around like that all day.

Have a great day. Stay Safe.

It looks like I brought home a cold. Yesterday afternoon I started sneezing...today it is a full blown cold. Sore throat, plugged sinuses...a generally crappy feeling.

The Apache Fire went well. The new trailer is awsome. Lots of room. We created a list of things we still need to do to it, but all in all it was great.

FLYS!! WoW!! You should have seen the flies. It wasn't as bad as New Orleans, but it was close. We would kill a bunch...and another bunch would invade our space just as fast as the first bunch were meeting thier demise. These flies were fast too. Some were next to impossible to get with a swatter. Oh well...we are home. I am sure with, the warm spring air, we will have our flies very soon.

For the next couple of weeks, we are teaching a few classes and catching up on spring chores outside.

Today we saw a large yurt go for flight. A yurt is a octagon shaped tent with an aluminum frame. This yurt was a double...about 14' x 22'. The wind started whirling and picked this tent right up off the ground. It spun around several times, flew about forty feet up, then came down onto a pick-up. It then flew again...right towards some power lines. We sat here and watched the whole thing. The tent landed short of the power lines. When the whole incident was over, the tent appeared destroyed.

The fire is kind of laying down. I think we will be out of here in a few days.

Stay Safe.
