Pulled from the grasp of the Gulf by Frontline Medical personnel.
It is believed he flew in from Gulf Port Mississippi.... not by choice.
He rode the winds of Ike for a portion of the trip, then surfed in on the tidal surge. As he approached Sea Wall Blvd, he lost his board on the rocks and fell victim to the crashing waves.
It is completely unknown how he survived the trauma of being smashed against the rock wall. Perhaps being long time member and celebrity on Public Broadcast Television, he was exposed to a high number of Wilderness Survival shows. However it came to be, Big Bird is now the token mascot employee. He is forever grateful to the Frontline Personnel who rescued him.
No statement from rescue personnel was obtained, as they wished to remain anonymous.
