Last night, a member of the Salmon River hotshots was injured in a non-fire line incident on the Silver Fire, PNF, in Quincy. She was struck by piece of heavy equipment, while sleeping in fire camp. She received injuries to her chest, lungs, head, shoulder and arm. She received treatment at the scene by Frontline Medical Personnel and Plumas District Hospital, and was later transferred to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, CA.
I just received a phone call from a family member who says she is communicating with them, but is in very serious condition. The family has asked that she have no visitors at this time. They will keep us all posted on any changes in her condition. The family expressed their gratitude to all who were involved with her care.
Our prayers go out to her and her family.
Our jobs are dangerous. Just because we are in fire camp, does not mean we are free from hazards. Please remain alert. Please watch out for each other.
Everybody stay safe.
The winds are coming....so are the fires.
