BARATARIA BAY, La. - A containment cap fitted onto a leaking well in the Gulf of Mexico is capturing 10,000 barrels of oil per day, BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward said Sunday. Asked what proportion that represented of the total oil leaking, Hayward said: "At the moment it's difficult to say but we would expect it to be the majority, probably the vast majority of the oil."
While BP plans to eventually use an additional set of hoses and pipes to increase the amount of oil being trapped, the ultimate solution remains a relief well that should be finished by August
Frontline Medical is still in stand-by mode
Another proposal was presented to a base camp contract provider yesterday. Everyday we are being contacted by somebody different. Everyday I spend time putting these proposals together. Most are very similar, but each one has different items that need to be plugged into the design. Some have a large space to work with... some have limited space. Some are very temporary... some are more permanent.
Most of these support camps are going to be set up for a long time. It seems there has been little interest by BP to have a medical aid station in the support camps. At some point, an aid station will need to be set up in each camp. Frontline is poised to provide those aid stations.
There has been no word on the red tape involved with "Barge Camps".
