Tick Tock Tick Tock Tick Tock...
Everybody watched and waited yesterday. What a circus! Of course, if a tsunami had actually slammed into Hawaii, the media was set up. Everybody seemed to be prepared. The beaches were evacuated, the hotels were evacuated. The news showed people parked in their cars on high roads.... all waiting for the show.

The clock ticked..... tocked.... tick... tock...

The estimated time of arrival came.... and went... nothing happened. Oh sure, the water receded and came back in, but had little affect on anything. By mid-afternoon, the beaches were filled with people milling around, talking about what might have been. Each telling their story to the other. "What were you doing when the sirens went off?" We all do it when something bad or different happens.

I guess we'll just wait and see what happens next....

ps. Toaka says..... "Tsunami? Is that some type of Japanese snack?"

Local News
The Weather Dude was right on the money for today........NOT.  The Weather Dude said we might get about 4" of snow today, but most of the storm would go south of us. Boy was he wrong. I woke this morning to about 12" of snow. Nothing went south. In fact, it is still here.... snowing. I had plans of watching figure skating or something, but noooooo. I will be shoveling and plowing most of the day.

Ya'll have a great day.

ps. Toaka says..... "Oh Boy!  I get to ride in the snow plow truck! Woo Hoo! I'll get some jerky!"

Local News
Wednesday night, we responded to a structure fire. It was a duplex. The fire completely destroyed one half of the building. We were able to stop the fire in the attic just before it spread to the other half of the building.

The cause of the fire was determined to be from the land owner...aka "The Foam Dude". He was spraying "Great Stuff" foam into spaces around some plumbing in the walls and floor. The fumes from the foam finally hit the pilot light on the water heater. BOOM! The entire application of foam was blown deeper into the walls and deeper under the building. Now the foam was on fire.

The Foam Dude tried to put the fire out, but was unsuccessful. Myself, and our youngest department member, were the first firefighters on the scene with equipment. We each had a hose and attacked the fire through a sliding glass door. By this time, the fire was rolling out from under the eaves, igniting the smoke in large flashes. We were able to sit low to the ground, staying under the flames.

The fire vented itself through the roof, so the spread of the fire was slowed dramatically. Frontline's very own...James... was able to knock some blocks out from between the rafters, under the eaves, and get water into the attic. This stopped the spread.

All in all.... we stopped the fire from destroying the entire building and no one got hurt. I got a little foam in my eye, but it was rinsed out and I was able to continue. the entire event took about 6 hours.

Have a great day.

ps. Toaka says..... "Wooo Hooo!! Dad's home!...???...???... Oh gosh, you smell like smoke!"

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Don't forget to give your significant other something nice. Roses are always good. Nuts and Chews from Sees Candies usually rate right up there. My favorite is homemade divinity with walnuts or homemade macaroons. What ever you choose, I'm sure it will be received with excitement.

The New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl yesterday. The game was OK. At least it wasn't a complete blowout, like some of the Super Bowls in the past. The bottom line.... The Colts didn't play that well... The Saints played better. Either team could have won on any given day, but the Saints won yesterday.

The best part of the game? The commercials.
My favorite was a Doritos commercial.  A dude sitting on a park bench, eating nacho cheese Doritos. A Yellow Labrador walks up.... wearing an anti-bark shock collar. The dude sees the collar and tells the Lab to "speak" if he want a chip. The dog walks away.

Now you see the Lab take the collar off and sneak up behind the dude. The lab puts the collar on the dude. NOW.... the Lab barks!! The dude flops onto the ground like a fish! The Lab barks again! The dude flops around some more. The Lab is eating the chips and barking!

Very funny!

ps. Toaka says..... (rolling on the floor laughing!) "WOOF!!... aagghh!...WOOF!!..... aaagghhhh!!.... NOW, GIVE ANOTHER CHIP!"
