FIRE SEASON
Things have really dried out in the past week or so. There has been an increase in fire activity.
HURRICANES
Hurricane Irene is bigger than Hurricane Ike. We are watching where she goes. Some forecasts warn that Hurricane Irene can "dwarf" Hurricane Katrina (damages). There has been talk of a 12 foot tidal surge inot New York City Harbor.....on top of high tide. As for FEMA.....things are buzzing. There is a very good chance of receiving a task order in the next day or so. Time and mother nature will tell.

FIRE SEASON
FL 07 is assigned to a small fire in Modoc County.  Dry lightning is in the forcast for Northern California.

HURRICANES
There are several "good looking" low pressure systems in the Southern Atlantic. The Weather Dudes think we will have a few more named storms very soon.


"Dave" the code word has been compromised!! "pedalboat" is no longer safe to use. "The grass needs mowing" will be the new code phrase. I was going to use "blue cheese milk" , but that made me nauseated. We'll talk again soon.

FIRE SEASON
The grass is dry. The brush is dry. Our drive-way is dustier than ever. Still no fires. SoCal has had a few that looked like they had potential. NorCal has had only grass fires. 

HURRICANES
The Weather Dudes say the Tropical Atlantic is "Locked and Loaded"  They say several new storms are lurking just off the African Coast.  Something about the wind sheer moving away from the United States. Something about the water warming up. I'm not a weather dude, so I don't pretend to really understand what they are talking about. "Locked and Loaded" sounds good though. It's the first time this year they've used the word "several" in the forcasts.
