Maverick seems to be fully recovered. He is happy for all the prayers everybody sent his way.
We have been buried in snow for several days now. The shovels have been working overtime. The Weather Dude says more snow is on the way. Oh joy.

"Maverick"
Maverick is doing much better. He is still very weak. His appetite improved yesterday. At one point, he wanted to go outside. He just wanted to lay in the sun. He tried run a little bit....just a little bit. We will keep you all posted on his condition. He is thankful for all the support.

Now I lay me down to sleep,
The king-size bed is soft and deep.
I sleep right in the center groove
My human beings can hardly move!
I've trapped his legs, she's tucked in tight
And here is where I pass the night
No one disturbs me or dares intrude
Till morning comes and "I want food!"
I sneak up slowly to begin
my nibbles on my human's chin.
They wake up quickly, I have sharp teeth
I'm a puppy, don't you see?
For the morning's here and it's time to play
I always seem to get my way.
So thank you Lord for giving me
These human people that I see.
The ones who hug and hold me tight
And shares their bed with me at night!.

Maverick is home. He is still under the weather. He is trying to eat a little. We think his infection was from Campylobactor. Because he does not have a spleen, his immune system cannot fight this bacteria as well as most dogs. We are looking for the source of the bacteria. The bottom line.... Mav is home. He is glad to be here. Everybody is happy he is back.

"Maverick"
Maverick is a very sick boy. It has been touch and go for the past 24 hours. He went into severe septic shock yesterday. He all but stopped breathing. Dr. Baker did an outstanding job of bringing him back. We do not know what the source of the infection is. We can't find cancer. He is negative for parvo. His white blood cell count is lethally low. This morning he continues to receive fluids and antibiotics.
We thank everybody for the emails and texts. I am resigned to post updates here, as my hands are full and can't reply to every inquiry.
